Visit
Porto and the North

Porto has already been voted the “Best European Destination” and the “Best Tourist Destination in the World”, and it's easy to understand why. The city is within easy reach of the most northerly regions of Portugal, where you will discover amazing landscapes and stunning monuments.

- In Porto, walk along Avenida dos Aliados and go shopping in the city’s traditional stores. Climb the 240 steps of the Clérigos Tower and then have a rest to admire the tiles at São Bento station. Spend a little time in the gardens of the Crystal Palace and savour an aperitif in Ribeira. From there, walk over the Dom Luís I bridge to the Gaia quayside, where you can indulge in a tasting session in the Port wine cellars.

- The historic old town of Guimarães is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- The Peneda-Gerês National Park is a protected area of great scenic beauty and enormous biodiversity in terms of flora and fauna.
- The River Douro is the 2nd longest river in the Iberian Peninsula and features unforgettable landscapes, particularly during the grape harvesting season. By car, train or boat, it’s well worth discovering the bends in the river and the terraces on the hills on which Port wine is produced, the oldest demarcated region in the world.
- The Montesinho Nature Park in northeastern Portugal features Neolithic caves, lime kilns, medieval bridges, riverside beaches and water mills, in addition to a wide variety of animal and plant species.
